ANNUAL SPRING LECTURE

Continue the festivities with an engaging lecture series.  This year, we’ll embark on an exploration of Mission Hills’ most spectacular modernist homes. We have two exciting presentations on tap: Author and chronicler of SoCal modernism, Keith York will lead a lively discussion of mid-century modern architecture in Mission Hills and the architects who created these innovative designs. An often-overlooked treasure trove for design enthusiasts, Mission Hills boasts one of the largest enclaves of mid-century architecture in the region, featuring homes by top architects like Frederick Liebhardt, Lloyd Ruocco, and Homer Delawie. Also, Dave Hampton, independent curator and author of the book San Diego’s Craft Revolution, will explore relationships between artists, architects, designers and craftspeople who worked in post-World War II San Diego and how they collectively formed a dynamic culture of modernism during the 40s, 50s and 60s. Enjoy coffee, pastries, and an old-house local vendor bazaar.
