18th Annual Home Tour: Spanish Architectural Styles of Mission Hills
Experience the timeless beauty of Mission Hills as we celebrate our 18th Annual Historic Home Tour, spotlighting the iconic Spanish architectural styles that transformed the neighborhood in the 1920s. Inspired by the visionary designs of Bertram Goodhue and Carleton Winslow from the 1915 San Diego Exposition, these enchanting homes often showcase white-washed stucco exteriors, graceful low-pitched tile roofs, intricate ironwork, colorful tiled interiors, and lush tropical gardens.
During this self-paced (driving or walking) docent-led tour, you’ll delight in the interiors of a charming collection of Spanish-style homes ranging from Mission and Spanish Revival to Hacienda styles by Master Builders like Pear Pearson, William Wahrenberger, and Morris Irvin. Today, these homes have been rediscovered and restored by new owners, and some may be designated historic, protected for future generations to enjoy.
The elegance and charm of one of San Diego’s most historic neighborhoods is not to be missed! Your attendance directly supports our mission of preserving our neighborhoods’ historical assets.
