Master Builders of Mission Hills

Join us to learn how Master Builders were influential in the development of Mission Hills. We will hear from three experts in the
field of historic preservation.

We’ll address topics such as:

  • the difference between a Master Builder and a Master Architect,
  • where Master Builders got their ideas,
  • how the different styles developed over the years, and
  • the process for determining historic significance.

Our speakers are:
Ione Stiegler, FAIA has extensive knowledge in historic and architecture preservation and specializes in applying the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Together with her team, she has rehabilitated or restored over 200 historic structures and surveyed more than 23,000 resources.

Diane Kane, PhD, AICP specializes in 19th &  20th century Architecture and Urban Planning. She is a former Senior Planner in the Historic Resources Section of the City of San Diego Planning Department. She was the Architectural Historian and Heritage Resources Coordinator for Caltrans, District 7 in Los Angeles.

Andrew Goodrich, AICP is a Senior Associate of Architectural Resources Group, an architecture and planning firm specializing in historic
preservation. He worked on the National Register nominations for the Inspiration Heights and the Arnold and Choate’s Addition-North
Florence Heights historic districts.
